In the first quarter of 2006, P&H achieved its best ever safety performance for both Total Recordable case rate and for Lost Time case rate. On a rolling 12 months basis, the Recordable case rate was 4.13 and the Lost Time rate was .76.
P&H Mining Equipment's Milwaukee Operations received an Outstanding Achievement Award for Excellence in Safety During 2005 from the Wisconsin Council of Safety and the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. Awards were given in 16 categories based on the size of business and type of business, as defined by SIC code. "This year's finalists are strong companies in two respects," said Bryan Roessler, WCS Director. "First and foremost, they all have strong safety programs and have documented the positive impact of those programs. Safe companies are also profitable companies, so their safety efforts are reflected in the bottom line."
P&H MinePro Services
The Australian team erected and commissioned two 9020 draglines for Hail Creek mine with zero injuries... a truly remarkable feat and proof that we all can indeed work with zero injuries.
The MinePro team at the Venetia mine in South Africa has maintained a 5 star rating (Vlakvarkies) status for 15 consecutive quarters.
The MinePro Botswana South team earned the Top Contractor in safety designation for 20 consecutive months.
The National Safety Council of Chile, in the Forty Fourth Version of the Annual National Safety Competition, distinguished P&H MinePro Services - Chile with "National Safety Council", "Effort" and "Safety Excellence" prizes.
MinePro Eastern Canada's team earned kudos from Iron Ore of Canada, or IOC, when the Contract Services team completed a mid-life rebuild on shovel 96, a 2800XPB. The job was finished on schedule and customer management was impressed with the site organization and the level of cooperation among a parties working on the project.
